Featured Image & SEO Mode
Mode tab: Featured Image & SEO. Unlike Builder and Preview, this mode is available even without the builder permission.
Three panes, top to bottom: the metadata form, an AI generator, and an audit checklist.
1. Featured image & metadata
The card opens with the rule: "The featured image is shown when this page's link is shared on WhatsApp, Facebook, etc. Leave fields empty to fall back to the store's social image / SEO. A wide 1200×630 image works best."
| Field | Control | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Featured image | Pick from Assets, or paste an image URL | Shows a thumbnail, or No image. This is the social-share card image. |
| Meta title | Text | "Title shown in the link preview / browser tab." Aim for 30–60 characters. |
| Meta description | Textarea | "One or two sentences shown under the title in the preview." Aim for 70–160 characters. |
| Featured image alt text | Text | Accessibility, and image SEO. |
| Canonical URL (advanced) | Text | Leave empty to use the page's own URL. Only set it "when the same content lives at multiple URLs and one address should collect the ranking signals." |
| Hide from search engines | Toggle | Adds a noindex robots tag. A badge on the right shows the current state — Indexable or hidden. |
Every field here falls back to the store's own social image and SEO defaults when left blank. Fill them in when this page deserves its own snippet; leave them alone when the store default is fine.
The card ends with the reminder: "Remember to Save Draft and Publish — previews use the published version." Link previews on WhatsApp, LinkedIn and Facebook read the published page, so an unpublished meta title changes nothing on a shared link.
2. Generate SEO with AI
Generate SEO with AI reads the text already on the page and proposes a meta title, description, image alt text and an H1 suggestion.
The card is explicit about its own limits: "nothing on the page itself is invented. Review each suggestion, then apply." It suggests; it does not overwrite. Nothing is committed until you accept a suggestion and save.
The generator works from the page's copy. Run it on an empty canvas and it has nothing to read. Build and word the page, then generate.
3. The SEO checklist
A score pill sits in the heading — 50/100, not a percentage ring — and below it, seven rules. Each carries a dot and a one-line instruction:
| Rule | What it checks |
|---|---|
| Meta title | 30–60 characters — the headline search engines show. |
| Meta description | 70–160 characters — the snippet under the title. |
| Featured image | Set one; links shared on WhatsApp / LinkedIn look far better with it. |
| URL slug | Clean and descriptive. |
| Main heading (H1) | The page needs exactly one clear H1 — from a hero or search-header block. |
| Image alt texts | Every standalone image block should have alt text. |
| Page content | Pages with substantive copy rank better. |
| Dot | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 🔴 Red | Missing. Fix this first. |
| 🟠 Amber | Present but weak, or not applicable in a way that costs you. |
| 🟢 Green | Fine. |
The rules are page-aware, not generic — "No main-heading block found (hero / search header)" and "No standalone image blocks on this page" both describe your actual canvas.
This mode does not draw a mock Google result. The checklist's character-count guidance is what tells you whether a title or description will be truncated.
